One of the main causes of muscle and joint pain is the imbalanced relationships between muscles. For example, the quadriceps and hamstrings are two muscles that are the opposites of each other, where when one contracts, the other must relax and vice versa in order for the muscle to work properly.
However we often have weaker hamstrings due to daily activities not working them as hard as our quadriceps. This leads to muscle imbalances where one muscle becomes shorter, and the other being stretched out, making it harder for either to work properly, leading to a reduced mobility and muscle function.
It is important to make sure your muscles function properly as they act as the movers of our joints, and when they are imbalanced, it can lead to back, hip, knee and ankle issues.
FYI: Ideal muscle ration balance for quadriceps to hamstrings is 3:2
